Australia is home to more than 50 species of parrots. This includes those in the parrot family, lorikeets, and cockatoos.
To date, one species has tragically known to be extinct – the beautiful Paradise Parrot. Many others are now considered endangered. A few species thrive in large numbers due to extensive changes to habitat since European colonisation of the continent.
